Once again we are up in the Adirondacks for another amazing journey to the High peaks. Once again I am hiking with my best friend. After we both climbed Gothics in December of 2015 , the MacIntyre Range( Wright peak, Algonquin and Iroquois).
We started off with another 4am drive up the the Adirondacks, getting up the Adirondack Loj parking lot around 730am. We prepped our gear and were off. We signed in at the trail register and were on our way. The last time we had been up here was when we had done mt Phelps just under a month ago. We were lucky enough to have a clear blue sky once again.
We made our way up the steep trail trying to not get distracted by how clear the sky was. We decided to bypass Wright Peak so we could focus on getting Algonquin and Iroquois Peak. We finally made it up to Algonquin and we had the summit to ourselves. We took some time to enjoy the tremendous views. Layers upon layers of mountains, they just seemed never ending. You could see the entire High peak region from here. Next was a quick snack before we started our way to Iroquois. We made our way to Iroquois where we ran into 2 women who also had just made it to the peak. We shared a quick snack and conservation and then we were back on our way. In order to get to Wright peak we had to climb back over Algonquin and then back down the other side.
We made it back up to Algonquin and there were quite a bit of people there now as opposed to earlier. Some clouds had ridden in but it was still a clear day. We descended down the trail a bit until we hit the junction that led to Wright peak. We trekked up trail to the rocky summit with winds kicking. We enjoyed the summit for a bit and then we headed back down. While heading back down the trail, amazing views surrounded us. When we made it out and signed out at the register we signed out and started our drive back home.
