The Northeast 115
Lower Wolf jaw 12-12-15
Before I had known anything about the Adirondack 46ers or Northeast 115, or lists and challenges like that. Most of my hiking at this point was limited to Western Massachusetts. At this point I had never been above tree line or even above 3500 feet. Nor had I driven more than 3 hours just to hike.
Me and my best friend woke up early morning December 20th in 2015 to make the 3 hour drive to the trail head. Our original plan was to make it to Gothic mountain by trekking across Lower wolf jaw,
It was a beautiful day, there was very little ice on the trail, the sun was shining, and our attitudes were beaming.
We had parked off of route 73 Up in Keene Valley. It was a clear day, a bluebird sky. There wasn’t too much snow or ice yet but we still had our traction just in case. This was the first time I had set foot on a path or even an area like this. We were both completely caught by the sensations of exploration and adventure. We made our way up to Lower Wolf Jaw passing Hedgehog mountain on the way. When we got to the Summit, we ran into a bunch of guys ironically from my Home State Maryland, we had a quick chat and then we were on our way. We descended down taking in as much scenery as we could.
